Since I started my first holiday flat early last summer and it has been really popular. I am very much enjoying meeting all the guests. The greatest thing is that many of them arrive as my guests and leave as my friends. I am now very glad to announce that from November 2010 I am able to offer a second flat to more guests who love to visit York and stay in one of the most desirable historic cities in Britain.

Interior of Flat 33

Once again, with the popularity of Betty’s York Holiday Flat, I am very pleased to announce that I am able to offer my 3rd holiday flat accommodation.

Flat 33 is in a converted 1850’s Victorian building.  This ground floor apartment is located in Portland Street which is just next to my other two Gillygate flats.  They are all just outside the city walls near “York Minster” and local shops, cafes and restaurants are just a minute’s walk away.  

It took 8 months to refurbish the building to a modern light and fresh comfortable apartment.  It is decorated with good quality furniture, fixtures and fittings.  It provides pleasant accommodation for up to 4 people.

The entrance hall has 150 year old original Victorian mosaic tiles, with modern chandelier lighting. Spacious living room with a natural solid wood floor. 

Open plan kitchen / dining room

Large bay window with 2 sash windows. Open plan dining room/kitchen.  Modern kitchen with a 4-ring electric hob and electric fan oven with grill, integrated dishwasher, large fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, quality dinner set and cooking utensils, to ensure you have an enjoyable cooking experience. Ironing board and iron.

Dining area -- modern large dining table with 6 leather chairs.  The beautiful Victorian high ceiling with modern spotlights adds to the relaxed and romantic dining atmosphere. 

Lounge

A 3-seater leather sofa, a leather armchair, a coffee table, a wall-mounted flat screen digital TV with freeview and DVD player, CD player/radio, bookshelf with a few local travel books and novels for your relaxation.  High speed broadband Internet connection point.

Master bedroom with king size bed

Large leather king size double bed with comfortable mattress.  Chest of drawers, dressing mirror, hairdryer, bedside tables with reading lamps and radio alarm. Large bay window with 2 sash windows.

Second bedroom with twin comfortable beds

Twin comfortable beds, bedside table with reading lamp, wardrobes, dressing mirror.

Bathroom   Modern deep bath tub with powerful electric shower over it.  Washbasin with illuminated mirror. Toilet. We also provide bed linen and towels.

Interior of Flat 61

Flat 61 is a restored and renovated cosy modern flat. I have always had a great interest in and passion for traditional English old houses.  When I bought this old 19th century house, it was in a neglected condition but I found large original black beams in the bedroom and a beautiful cast iron fireplace hidden behind decaying, dusty wooden boarding without a fire surround.  But for me they were very attractive and made me so excited.  With the great help of a local builder I set about restoring the property and changed it from its previous condition with every single piece of plaster falling from the walls and ceilings, and with rotten wooden sash windows, into a stylish, modern, comfortable self-catering flat.

Bedroom

A large spacious bedroom has been tastefully decorated to give it a modern cosy, relaxing atmosphere.  It has got a high quality king-size leather bed & anti-allergy duck down duvet for a comfortable night’s sleep, and a single wooden bed.  A wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables with reading lamps, a radio alarm clock and an easy chair.  There are double glazed windows with blackout blinds so that you aren’t woken by the early morning sun.

Living Room with open plan kitchen / dining room

The living room has been transformed into a stylish elegant room with a large chocolate colour leather sofa and two armchairs.  

32” Panasonic widescreen TV and DVD/CD/VCD player make your stay more enjoyable.  Two fine works of traditional Chinese calligraphy make the room feel relaxing and sophisticated.  Finally my little daughter’s touching hand drawings make the room more homely.

Modern kitchen with all equipment, including electric cooker with four hobs, oven, toaster, kettle and stylish ceramic dinner set.  Frost free energy saving fridge freezer.  Oak dinner table with four comfortable leather dining chairs.  The spotlights make your dining more romantic.

Bathroom

Large airy bathroom with white bathroom suite.  A deep, large bath tub, so that you can completely relax in a hot bath after a busy day.

Powerful shower, easy to use basin, W.C., wooden towel stand with quality towels provided.

Interior of Flat 59

Bedroom

The charming cottage style bedroom is decorated in a light English rose pink with a white ceiling and dark brown beams.  It has got a King size bed and a single bed, and an extra single bed combined with simple elegantly designed furniture.  This includes a double-doored wardrobe with a full length mirror, a chest of drawers with a table lamp and a dressing mirror, a pair of bedside tables with a lamp on each side and a radio alarm clock.

Kitchen

The kitchen has been decorated in a fresh and delicious lemon colour.  It is well equipped with a fridge with a freezer compartment and an electric cooker, a toaster, a kettle, full self catering facilities, and an elegant set of china tableware. 

There is a Sainsbury’s Local supermarket within walking distance - just 5 minutes away - open between 7am and 11pm every day.

Bathroom

The bathroom is decorated in a peaceful, relaxing colour.  It has got a washbasin, a WC., bathtub, and a shower with instant hot water on tap.

A washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board are available for your use.

Monkgate Town House

Monkgate Town House is a newly built by a well known local family firm builder. I bought this house purely by chance. I was helping my friend to view a small house which she was interested in buying near this property. As usual, when I see a new development building work, I am always interest in it and would like to pop in to have a look for my architectural interest on buildings. So after finishing the viewing, I just walked down to the site to ask if I could just have a look. But I was so impressed with what I saw. The property is spacious, with creatively used space and finished in a high standard. It has used the latest in contemporary design fused with tradition and modern materials, to create an ambience of modern living and with attractive features. I fell in love at first site with this house.

It has got 4 double sized bedrooms, two rooms with a fantastic York Minster views and another one with an en-suite. An open plan kitchen dinning, very easily to move around in kitchen, just make you think this is a perfect place to entertain your family and friends with a mouth full home made delicious food. The kitchen is designed with high gloss finished units, full quality appliances and stylish granite work tops; a large lounge with a French door to the south facing garden, which has got a patio and grass, a peaceful place to relax on a sunny day with a glass of wine. a rare place to escape from the busy city centre but you are still in the city centre. Also, the house has got 2 family bathrooms and an en-suite shower room plus a useful ground floor cloakroom. It is also near the Goodramgate street where has a lots of local shops, cafes and restaurants are just a minute’s walk away. Sainsbury's super market just 1 minute away. I feel so lucky to be able to provide this high quality large town house for our guests to enjoy, and to wish all my guests have a great holiday and experience in York.
